[He had to admit, he was curious to get out of the city and explore more of this world. It couldn't just be the one city; maybe in Amegahara, he could find some more of the missing puzzle pieces to what had happened here, and just how to get all of his classmates home.
Of course, the idea of piloting a giant robot to cross that desert is pretty cool, too.
The neural link is slightly more concerning; the way the technician explained it to him, it was apparently kind of like two minds shaking hands. Your partner might end up learning things about you that you didn't mean to share. And while he's never been exactly shy in talking about his past, there are some things he really doesn't want to go over.
Which means there's really only one logical choice, and he finds that person gazing up starry-eyed at one GIGA painted in a suspiciously familiar color scheme.]
Midoriya. Want to team up?
[After all, hadn't he said as much last month? They get to decide who their teamups are now.]
[ He's going to keep gazing starry-eyed at the GIGA in the BEST color scheme for a second, okay...before those starry eyes turn to focus on Shoto, Izuku's entire face lighting up.
Does he want to team up to fly this GIGA? Absolutely he does. In fact, he was hoping he'd find someone to pair up with, but he hadn't reached the point of his ardent fanboying where he'd considered who to ask... ]
Todoroki-kun! I'd love to!
[ But he probably would have come to a similar conclusion. ]
[Wow. That smile could power a GIGA all on its own, and for a moment Shoto's just a little blinded. But really, what other response could he expect from Midoriya? After all, it's his favorite colors, and this is basically just like a shounen manga, isn't it?
The neural link does make him a little nervous--after all, Midoriya's heard it all, or enough of it, but there's a difference between hearing and seeing--but with that kind of enthusiasm, he can't do anything but agree.]
Yeah, sure. There's a technician on the way to calibrate the tests, but apparently we just go in. There's a ladder on one leg leading up to the cockpit, and then there's some kind of assembly inside we just hook up to.
[It's almost second nature now to offer a hand to his friend. After all, a little boost before a new unknown thing is probably not a terrible idea, right?]

[It was just natural that the first people Kirishima would want to test his compatibility with would be his own classmates. It seemed like a no brainer when it came to needing people who would work together to pilot a giant mech seamlessly. Not that he expected this would be what he was doing this month, but hey...it's cool as hell so he is all for it.
By now, he's gotten to Midoriya in his quest to test with as many promising candidates as possible. Really, he could probably work with any of his classmates well but hey...why not be thorough, right?]
Okay Midoriya, you ready to give this a try?

[ Izuku, meanwhile, is just...very, very into the whole idea of GIGA. It's fascinating? He's trying to do the same thing as Kirishima, mixing and matching with as many people as possible, although it doesn't always go super well...

I am! You're good to go?
HMMM Expose Kiri to some baby izuku since he's gonna be getting the bad end of the stick here

[He had sequestered himself a corner of the reading archives where he was amassing a stack of books half his height he planned to read in however long of a span of time they were given to remain in Amegahara. He'd been wandering the archives sporadically as his joints would cramp up from sitting still for too long, gathering a few other books to add to the pile as he went. This particular wander through the shelves he had four under one arm, another open as he walked, and he stopped short passing one shelf to backpedal at a familiar mop of green hair in his peripheral vision.]
[He rerouted and folded his book closed, crossing the aisle to his classmate.]

Midoriya-kun, may I have a word? In person, if you don't mind, I'm not tech-savvy enough to know how to have a properly private conversation over these networks.
[The timing's a little suspect, considering Jiro's hardly ever awake this early in the morning without the teachers fussing about it... one can only guess what this might be about. Though the guessing's not hard, considering what starts today.]
Hey. I just wanted to say I miss you. And I'm sorry if it's my fault things have been weird since...you know. I still want to be friends. Even if you don't like me that way. If it's too weird or too late, I get it. You don't have to say anything. I just wanted to say this, in case you've been feeling the same way. Like I was mad at you, which I'm not. I just thought you didn't want to talk to me.
