Yeah. There's a lot of high tech stuff around if you know where to go.

Sure. I mostly play the slice of life VR games though.

[There's the big question of what to do with them... criminals. The same old same would just repeat the cycle.]

Like... going to work or hanging out in the park?

Well, kind of, yeah. Like...games that let you just talk to AI, or build things. Sometimes it's just nice to hang out with a program that, uh...there's no real pressure, I guess?

[ It's calming. ]

[Katsuki frowns in focus on the game. Not sure what to think about it, but guesses it's no different than talking to a friend?]

What kind of things do you build? Buildings?

Um, sometimes buildings. Sometimes nature scenes. There's a lot of variety and options. There's not really a way to "win" either.

[ But there are personal goals to meet and so on. ]

It's more a design challenge with your own goals. I've seen those kinds of games back home.

[He leans to the side a bit to shift weight to his other hip.]

Is it like a second life in there, or more "Be a gardener for a day" style?

There's some of each. I mean...there's entirely social simulators where you can make friends or date or have an AI family, bit there's also just farm simulators and stuff.

[ Games for everyone. ]

Like the Sims?

[Katsuki hasn't heard of these games, though he's generally stuck with his comforts while in the arcade. A VR simulator... Interesting.]

Kind of...but more, you're part of it. Well, I think they do have something like Sims too though. But I like the ones where you're involved more.

[ Part of the setup, less omniscient narrator. ]

What'd you make me your building manager?

[Izuku's incorporating him into a fictional world?]

Huh? No? That was like - general you. Me. I like games more where the AI treats me like a real person involved in the story.

[ For VR. ]

So if you're in a feudal Japan system, you'd be treated like a samurai?

[defendure]

Well, um, yeah. I just like hanging out with like - sometimes it's nice to be around something that doesn't have any sort of expectations that you don't have to worry about I guess? It's hard to be anxious around code.

[ So it's just relaxing. ]

Damn, that sounds like some of those scifi films we used to watch as kids. People living in the Matrix.

[He smirks a little, imagining what kind of lives Izuku's living in those simulations.]

Yeah... I can see how it'd be a relief.

I wouldn't want to live there or anything. It's not real. But...sometimes it's just nice to talk to something or someone and not have any reason to worry about if they're interested in you rambling or not? Or what anyone wants or needs from you, because it's just playing around.

[ And for design things...he can make anything and the AI tells him it's beautiful. Nice sometimes, but nothing he would want full time. ]

Yeah. It's a stress relief.

[Like how people sing in the shower. No one's around and they can dream all they like and it simply feels amazing. Katsuki's not immune to that either. Certainly hasn't used a VR machine though cause he didn't know they existed until now.]

Do they have a hero AI?

I'm pretty sure, yeah! I haven't tried that one actually. I really like the, um, there's this one where you have an island you can design and then live on?

[ He added a bunch of training areas...

Their battle is almost timed out. ]

You haven't? Figured that'd've been the first one you did.

[He glances at the game and then immediately flicks the controls to smack an energy burst into Izuku's face. He'll win by having more health, heh.]

Design. As in put the trees and rocks wherever you want, or sticking resort buildings and fucking volleyball nets all over the beach?

I don't want to pretend to be a hero, I want to actually be a hero. And yeah.

[ Izuku slams his ult back at Katsuki. ]

You are a hero. But you know as well as I do there's not as much "hero work" in this place. VR might let you stop a bank robbery.
