Can't you earn tickets if you win there?

[ He's not sure, but he's heading to the arcade games first anyway. ]

No, cause it'd be too easy for a group of friends to come in and fuck it up.

[Throwing the game to make sure their other friends got lots of tickets. Doing something stupid with the targets and the guns for the same reason. Far less controlled than the arcade cabinets and games.

Good thing there are a ton of games in here. Katsuki drifts over to some of the fighters. Wanna use their cards to directly dump in the credits, or go old fashioned and get tokens from the machine?]

[ They can do either, but Izuku goes to get tokens.

He thinks putting in the tokens is fun, okay. ]

[Katsuki joins him at the machine, standing behind and to the side slightly. The machine even has a turn crank for the true old-fashioned feel, dropping a handful of off-gold tokens into the dispenser.

There are little cloth bags with drawstrings on the side for use if wanted.]

[ Izuku ends up getting two of the bags as he divides up tokens, then passes one to Katsuki. ]

[Katsuki accepts it, giving the bag a toss in the air for heft before slotting it into his pocket.]

I'll get the next round. What're you feeling like? Fighter, shooter, racer, rhythm?

Um, fighters are actually my favorite kind so...

[ And he likes the hero-esque ones of those best. ]

Mh... this way.

[The games are grouped by genre, so the fighters are over here. Hey, there's a new one based on the Gem-Knights show they found.

A few people are milling around the place, most of them teenagers watching friends play or taking a turn themselves.]

[ By now Izuku has caught up on the show, so he is kind of drawn to that one...he's not sure if it can be considered a special "thing" for them, but he hasn't been watching it with other people? ]

[Katsuki hasn't heard other people talk about it, so for now it's pretty much their "thing" by default. But he does like it for the nostalgia and little touch of home it brings, being a close semblance to the hero shows they watched as kids.

The game itself specializes in two-character tag-teams, which utilizes a set of gem power ups, and then if conditions are right, the two characters fuse into a third fighter. Deciding to use the gems and fight in tandem or fuse for a strong single character is up to the player's preference.]

[ So Steven Universe.

Izuku picks his favorite characters from the show out because he's that person. ]

[Steven Universe thrown over the much-maligned Marvel vs Capcom Ultimate. Though this one doesn't suck.

The only problem with Gem-Knights is there's no "All Might" figure in the show; the fusions can certainly be the crowning strength, but none of the heroes are all powerful.

Katsuki waits on the side to watch Izuku take first practice. There's a training mode, so he's gonna learn over Izuku's shoulder. You know, at least until Izuku's first token runs out; then he'll take a turn.]

You don't wanna battle me?

[ It might not be the most cost efficient way to earn tickets, but look. ]

I wanna take a run through the training mode.

[He's not gonna jump in there and button mash like a noob.]

Then I'll take you on.

Oh! You can go first then? Or, uh, well -

[ He finds doing is more useful for learning. Maybe he can ask one of the teenagers hanging around to hop on the other side? ]

They look like they're free?

[Katsuki frowns at the screen before reaching out to tap the second control slot. When the training partner lights up for a second challenger, he shrugs and steps up to the system, taking a feel over the joystick and spreading his hand over the buttons to get a sensation for how the layout works for his hand.

Yeah, he can work with this. More likely intending to help Izuku train than try to actively beat him just by hitting buttons at random. But he'll be watching the screen and controls as well to learn.]

Hey if it's free.

I mean, I did put in tokens! But I don't think the tutorial penalizes us or counts.

[ If it did, that wouldn't be very fair or kind. Izuku doesn't tap through the text until he's fully read things, and he won't go all out either. More likely to test out controls and combos. ]

Then I'm gonna use it.

[Their loss. Katsuki focuses on testing the controls and the combos. Which eventually ends up with the growling "stop fucking moving and let me hit you! i wanna try something!" sorts of protests and orders. usually to try out combos or land something the movelist isn't explicit about. But that's how practicing in fighters usually goes between two people. nothing personal.]

[ That's met with a laughing injunction to actually catch him first. Izuku isn't going all out, but he is still trying. ]

[Dammit! Get your ass back here! Cue chasing him around the screen and trying to nail him with a few combos or projectiles. No surprise Katsuki picks someone who's good at all ranges and looks cool.]

[ Izuku picked the underdog from the story. Powers are cool but he likes the lore from the show...the tutorial match does eventually end though.

No points or scores for that, and they can choose the scene setting for the battle... ]

Oh! That's the island from the third episode. ]

[Katsuki gunning out the gate, ready for a level selection and a real battle. Training went well and he's got a handle on things now, handful of trust combos memorized and some traps to lay down.]

Go for it. Water gives a slippery footing.

[ They can't really leave the screen they share so traps might be hard, but... ]

I just think it looks cool.

[Ha! Not true. Because there's one trap on the middle of the floor that shoots up, and another in the air at chest height that shoots down. Izuku's gotta decide to deal with the traps with a projectile, trigger them and block, or try to jump over them.

Katsuki's aware his boyfriend knows where the traps are and tries to psychologically work out which option he's going to go for.

And then capitalize on it.]

[FUCKING SUPER MOVE! RIGHT THROUGH THE TRAPS!!]

[ Psych him out about it...how? Izuku knows the layout and doesn't let himself be led too close, analyzing the area and making his own plans. ]

Well, no...but if we're gonna play, shouldn't it be somewhere fun?

[ The desert area looked super barren and boring. ]
